Shooting Couple Portraits at Villa Alba Content Workshop, Image Credit: Trent & Jessie

our time is now

The Villa Alba Content Workshop was the first big step for Lei Lei Clavey Education. I loved every minute of the planning, preparation, educating, mentoring and on-the-ground action over the two days. The real joy however, has been seeing the content posted on socials by everyone who joined me at Villa Alba. I’m in awe of the talent amongst us. Wow, just…Wow!

I’m especially excited to see attendees launch or relaunch their wedding photography businesses with the Villa Alba content (yay!). I launched my entire business with one editorial styled shoot (read more here) and I know, that if I can do it…so can you! Our time is now.

In this blog post, come behind the scenes at Villa Alba with sneaks of how the day unfolded including shooting styling details, reception and ceremony styling, bridal portraits and couple portraits at sunset. Special thanks to Trent & Jessie who shot the behind the scenes images of the workshop.

During the Art Director’s Walk through, I demonstrated how I shoot styling details, including flat-lays and fashion details. I am a natural light photographer, so it is a priority for me to move to the best natural light for shooting my couple’s wedding details. We also chatted about shooting film, tricky lighting scenarios at getting ready locations and camera settings. Then, attendees were broken into groups where they shot bridal portraits, ceremony details and reception styling.

Shooting in small groups, attendees were able to work with the professional models either inside the ornate rooms of Villa Alba or outside in the courtyard. With the changing afternoon light, new rooms and spaces such as the staircase and vestibule became favourites. My priority when planning the workshop was to curate editorial fashion looks for the attendees to shoot. Special thanks to designers, Cesar Chehade, Antoinette Fusillo, J’Andreatta and About Phaedra for nailing the editorial brief.

In the late afternoon, we stepped across to the lawns to shoot sunset portraits. With the golden light filtering through the European looking pines, attendees shot bridal portraits and couple portraits. These images are some of my favourite from the workshop. See my top 10 images from my own gallery below.

10 FAVOURITES FROM SUNSET PORTRAITS

Here are my 10 favourite images of this Cesar Chehade look from our late afternoon rendezvous. I love the drama of the gown and veil against the scale of the European looking pines. I shot these images on my Canon R6 with a 50mm lens.
